Delaware and Maryland

Monday morning we set off once again, this time for the state of Delaware. In this part of the eastern USA the states are all small--it doesn't take a lot of time to drive from state to state: we arrived at Lum Pond State Park at 1:30 in the afternoon allowing lots of time for Trekker to chase his ball and for him and Tia to get all worked up over the squirrels!

We met one of the Park Hosts who was walking her dog and she told us about the off-leash area at the other side of the park. We set off in our respective vehicles and all the dogs had a great time running about and playing with each other.

This was one of many State Parks in the USA with full services so we had plugged into the electric power and had the satellite receiver working so we returned to the rig in time to watch the 5 O'clock News from CHEK TV at home in Victoria at 8:00PM. For some reason we didn't take any photos of this park today--just having too much fun!

Today we would head to Maryland but before we set off Gillian took the dogs for their morning walk. They went to Trekker's favorite spot--the lake where he was allowed another swim. She had take the camera with her realising that we had not taken any photos yesterday.

A little after eleven AM on another beautiful day we were rolling west on highway 40 and at the first opportunity stopped for a short while at a shopping center to restock with necessities before continuing our drive. We followed the more scenic 40 for a while, crossing the northern tip of Chesapeake Bay then as we got closer to the city moved up to the faster moving and wider I-95 into and around Baltimore.

The drive was quite easy, traffic moving well except for a few minor delays for construction. By 3:00 PM we were settled into Rambling Pines Campground near Woodbine MD just north of Washington DC

This lovely park was in a grove of deciduous trees—not a pine to be seen! But it was a nice park. The heavily treed site was not conducive to satellite TV but we did have internet access. One of the staff had a very nicely decked out golf cart as his work vehicle.

There were many large carvings scattered around the park:

And some very well made and fun wooden toys around the park and in the playground.

Trekker wasn't allowed in the lake but he did enjoy chasing his ball in the large field.

Tia and Art mostly sat and watched, Tia sometimes snoozing and Art reading his book. (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo—a great “who dunnit”.)

We stayed two nights; one full day just enjoying staying put in the sunshine.
